Where Did Cafe Style Shutters Originate?

Cafe style shutters originated from French cafe's where diners wanted some privacy from the busy Parisian streets however, still wanted to enjoy the view. Since then, the internal shutters have become popular choice for traditional homes in Spain and France and has trended overseas to the UK where installations are now common in new builds, country cottages and historic Victorian and Edwardian homes.

What Are Cafe Style Shutters?

Cafe style shutters differ from other shutter styles as they are designed to only cover the bottom half of the window. The top window section is left uncovered to allow maximum natural light to enter the room. The shutters offers light control similar to the other shutter styles. You are able to rotate louvres and fold panels open.
Cafe style shutters are installed using a discreet three sided frame and can be customised by colour, material and louvre styles to ensure your new shutters compliment your existing decor.

Common Installations Of Cafe Style Shutters

The most common installation for cafe style shutters are ground floor, street facing windows as they allow the maximum possible natural light into the room whilst offering privacy at street level. Cafe style shutters can be installed on bay, sash and standard specification windows.
